Auschwitz Birkenau was one of the largest of the Nazi concentration camps. It is estimated that during World War II around 1.5 million people died at Auschwitz. A visit to Auschwitz is a sombre experience, yet understanding the atrocities that occurred here is an important means of ensuring such events never happen again.
In 1979 Auschwitz was added to the list of UNESCO world heritage sites and designated a memorial and museum. On this Auschwitz tour you will visit both Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II (Birkenau).
Your tour is led by an official Auschwitz guide who will be able to answer any questions you may have. On the coach on the way from Krakow you will be shown a moving documentary on life in the camp.
